We have offered solid state relays for continuous currents between 1 A and 200 A with and without integral overcurrent and short circuit protection for the automotive industry for about ten years. Many customers appreciate the benefits of electronic switching, such as low control currents, low heat and noise development, high switching cycles and high cycle frequency. These benefits justify the higher product costs.
For some time, a series of developments and new requirements have pushed the use of electronic switching, protecting and power distribution solutions. Also in higher performance areas.
- Stricter exhaust gas regulations (EURO VII, EP27, etc.) put the focus on using electric exhaust gas heaters with high performance and many switching cycles.
- In electric vehicles, the combustion engine is no longer used as energy source for secondary loads, such as pumps and fans.
